Description: Often described as the dullest live band in the world, the New York alt rock quartet are infamous for their lack of chit chat during shows and sombre outfits. Fortunately these men are brilliant musicians, so there lack of personality does not bother their fans one bit. The bands first two albums have been nothing short of amazing in particular their sophomore album Antics.

Description: Another band whose albums I find to be rather ordinary but once they hit the stage it’s a completely different story. Hailing from the glitz and glam of Las Vegas this band shows their roots with a blend of synth pop and anthemic rock. On the contrary they are often described as the ‘Greatest UK band to come from the US’. I had the pleasure of seeing these boys on the latest tour of Australia in support of Sam’s Town, this recording is of the band on their debut world tour and the show was hardly 45mins long as they band ripped through a tight set of songs from their first album Hot Fuss.

Description: One of Australia’s premier rock bands, these 5 boys have made some brilliant music over the last decade or so. They have consistently churned out albums of great musicianship and impressive songwriting. Frontman and principal songwriter Bernard Fanning is nothing short of a genius. This gig was held in the very early days of the band’s commercial success off the back of their Internationalist album which many consider as their best. These guys deserve to be one of the biggest bands in the world, their brand of honest straight forward rock is very accessible and it surprises me that they have struggled to strike the big time in the US. Listen out for songs like Passenger and Good Day Ray. I would strongly recommend all rock fans to listen to Vulture Street and Odyssey No.5.

On this tour the venues remained moderately intimate (at least for their festival side shows) with most of the gigs being held in theatres. This would have to be the most significant gig on this site and among the most impressive, Cobain is brilliant on vocals and Grohl shows signs of what was to come from him on the drums. If you were to download only one gig from this site this is the one I recommend you get.

Description: Let me begin by saying that this is an incredible recording. Triple J’s music director describes this performance as one of the best the station has had to chance to record. In front of a crowd of 20 000 the multi-Grammy award winning Brit act put on one hell of a show. This is Coldplay at their very best, a level they failed to re-capture during their 2005/6 tour for X&Y. Controversy surrounded the bands performance as the day before Chris Martin has been taken into custody for punching out a paparazzi, nonetheless the police let Martin go without charges or hassle. The 11 tracks featured on this recording are brilliant only topped by Martin’s on stage charisma and grace. Since the band has become a global phenomenon and it seems that they are unlikely to repeat the raw and passionate performances heard on this recording.

Description: One of the most exciting bands to come out of the 90s built around the song writing brilliance of former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. This tour was on the back of the bands best album The Colour and the Shape driven by hits like Monkey Wrench and Everlong. The band plays with incredible energy in a rather intimate venue, a far cry from the arena’s the band headlines nowadays. Alongside Foo Fighters were apart of small grunge- revival scene which fell away quickly but the Fooeys fight on.
